All Black charged with assault

All Black flanker Adam Thomson has been charged with assault and will appear in Hastings District Court on Tuesday.

The Otago and Highlanders player was arrested after an incident in Havelock North early on Sunday morning and charged with assaulting a female.

The New Zealand Rugby Union is not commenting. Professional rugby manager Neil Sorensen says that would be inappropriate because it is a police matter.

Thompson, 22, debuted for the All Blacks against Ireland in Wellington earlier this year.
