Reasonably fine weather forecast for Christmas Day

10:04 am on 23 December 2008

MetService predicts that an interlude of unsettled weather will clear around Christmas Day to bring a patch of reasonably fine weather.

It says a low is sliding by New Zealand - with a wave of warm air from the tropics bringing rain to parts of the Nortrh Island over the next 24 - 36 hours.

Once the low has passed, forecaster Peter Kreft told Morning Report an anticyclone looks like it will settle over the country a few days after Christmas.
