Second knife found in river

2:43 pm on 23 December 2008

A second knife has been found about 100 metres from where the body of Christchurch sex worker Mellory Manning was discovered on Friday.

Yesterday police said a pocket-knife had been seen close to her body. Detective Inspector Greg Williams now says a second knife has since been found in the Avon river and is being forensically tested.

But he says it's too soon to know if it's relevant to the inquiry.

Inspector Williams has also revealed more about Ms Manning's injuries but is asking media not to broadcast or publish this information till her family and friends have been told.
