Three missing in two cities

The police in South Auckland have launched separate investigations into the disappearances of two men, and a girl is missing in Christchurch.

Carlos Edwards, 24, has not been seen for nearly three weeks, and 23-year-old Tinirau Dean has been missing for four days.

A type 1 diabetic, Mr Dean has not taken his medication with him.

Mr Edwards has made no contact with anyone from his family and has not touched his bank accounts.

Detective Senior Sergeant Gary Lendrum says both men's disappearances are highly uncharacteristic.

Meanwhile, the police in Christchurch say they have concerns for the safety of 17-year-old Melissa Thompson. She was last seen in the Phillipstown area at 7.30am on Saturday. The police say it is unusual for her not to contact her family.

Ms Thompson is described as European, with long brown hair usually tied in a ponytail. She is 152 centimetres tall and solidly built and was last seen wearing a hoodie, black pants with a single red stripe down the sides, and pink slippers.
