Review cost surprises Community Law Centres head

The national body representing the country's Community Law Centres says it is surprised to hear how much a Justice Ministry review of its centres is costing.

In a reply to a written question from the Green Party, the Justice Minister has revealed that the review has so far cost just over $191,000.

Community Law Centres Aotearoa chief executive Liz Tennet says that money would fund several staff in her centres, all of whom she says are on below-market rates.

She says the sum would go a long way towards helping with the delivery of community law.
