Canterbury University entrepreneurs have been rewarded with thousands of dollars in funding for their innovative business ideas.
The Entre Business Awards recognised 13 of the university's best entrepreneurs, and about $80,000 worth of funding and prizes was handed out.
The overall winner announced on Tuesday was a software concept, dubbed Appoint Me, that allows people to book health appointments via the internet.
One of its creators, James Moore, hopes the $30,000 grand prize will help make the idea a reality.
Other finalists' ideas included using algae as a sustainable fuel, and a hi-tech digital colouring-in book.
