NZ Bus says it won't make another offer

The company that employs the majority of Auckland bus drivers says it will not make another pay offer to its staff.

NZ Bus met with the unions representing drivers on Wednesday, after its latest offer of $20 an hour was rejected late last week.

That deal had been backed by union representatives.

The company's chief operating officer, Shane McMahon, says the drivers seem hell-bent on pursuing strike action.

Mr McMahon says the deal NZ Bus offered is the best it can do and it can only hope drivers see sense and accept the deal being offered.

The unions have not returned calls for comment.
