A magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred near Tokoroa on Monday.
GNS Science says it occurred at 1.05pm, at a depth of 195km, 15km south east of Tokoroa.
AAP reported the quake was felt in in Hamilton, Wellington and Nelson.
