Teenagers are still likely to get burned this summer in spite of a warnings about skin cancer, says a sun safety campaigner.
Sunsmart programme manager Wayde Beckman says many teenagers are ignoring the sun safety message by getting burned in order to get a better tan.
Mr Beckman says many people still think tanning is attractive, but all tanning and sunburn can lead to skin cancer and there is no such thing as a healthy tan. He says people should always wear sunscreen, even on a cloudy day.
Mr Beckman says the best way to avoid skin cancer is to wear sunscreen and stay out of the sun during the hottest parts of the day.
