Trans-Tasman horse restrictions lifted

Quarantine protocols for horses coming across the Tasman are being lifted in time for the summer racing season.

They were imposed after an outbreak of equine influenza in Australia in 2007.

Biosecurity New Zealand says the requirements for Australian horses entering the country included a five-week quarantine and vaccinations.

The agency says it has been a year since the last case of horse flu in Australia.
