Sir Richard Hadlee has been named one of the inaugural inductees of the International Cricket Council's Cricket Hall of Fame.

The hall of fame has been established by the sport's governing body as part of its centenary year celebrations during 2009.

Sir Richard is the only New Zealander named and joins legends such as W G Grace, Sir Don Bradman, Sir Garfield Sobers and Sunil Gavaskar as one of the initial 55 inductees.

Sir Richard says it is an honour to be included among so many outstanding cricketers, and he hopes there will be a few more New Zealanders on the list in future.
