Polytech offers distance learning to Saudi students

Students in Saudi Arabia will soon be able to enrol in distance learning courses at the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand.

From May, six courses will be offered by the correspondence-based education provider, and the programme could be expanded if successful.

The polytechnic's executive director for strategic development, Peter Rutland, says it is an exciting opportunity that will enhance New Zealand's reputation as a quality education provider.

Dr Rutland says the focus is on helping the students get a start in education. He says the Saudi Arabian students will be offered the same service as those in New Zealand, but some of the material will be changed to make it more relevant to them.
