Police seek possible witness in Mellory case

Police investigating the death of Christchurch woman Mellory Manning want to speak to a man who approached a woman last week, wanting to talk about the killing.

Ms Manning's body was found in the Avon River on the morning of 19 December. The 27-year-old, who was working as a prostitute, was last seen alive on Manchester Street the night before.

Police say a women working on Manchester Street told police she was approached by a man last Friday night, who said he may have seen something connected with the killing.

The man is aged in his late 40s, with short, wavy brown hair. He was driving a small, four-door silver car.
