Urewera couple to go to Supreme Court

4:20 pm on 30 October 2012

The couple convicted for their part in the Urewera raids case are to appeal to the Supreme Court, after their case was dismissed by the Court of Appeal.

Emily Bailey and Urs Signer were sentenced to nine months' home detention for their role in the camps in Te Urewera National Park.

Their co-accused, Tame Iti and Te Rangikaiwhiria Kemara, were sentenced to prison for 2½ years.

All four appealed to have their sentences and convictions thrown out, but the case was rejected at the Court of Appeal on Monday.

Signer told Morning Report that was not very surprising.
