Veteran journalist Richard Long has been appointed to the board of Television New Zealand.
Mr Long has had a journalism career spanning more than three decades and is a former editor of The Dominion newspaper.
He was last year appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to journalism.
Broadcasting Minister Craig Foss says Mr Long's lengthy practical experience in the media will enable him to contribute to the work of the TVNZ board.
Mr Long spent two years as chief of staff in the National leader's office.
