The funeral of prominent defence lawyer Greg King has been held in Wellington on Friday.
About 800 mourners including legal, government, business and sporting figures packed the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul for the service.
Government minister Tony Ryall, Justice William Young, Crown prosecutor Simon Moore and Robert Lithgow, QC, gave remembrance speeches.
Mr Ryall, a long-time friend of Greg King's, spoke about what he thought separated him from many other lawyers.
Mr Ryal said Mr King had a brilliant legal mind, a genuine passion for the under-dog and a deep understanding of everyday people.
Pallbearers included close friends Sir Robert Jones and former All Black Bernie Fraser.
Mr King, 43, was found dead in Wellington on 3 November and his death has been referred to the Coroner.
