The name of the driver of a stolen vehicle who died in a crash near Katikati on Monday evening will be issued on Tuesday.
He was 18 and from Huntly.
Police were pursuing the vehicle prior to the crash, which is being investigated by the Independent Police Conduct Authority.
The driver died when his car collided with another vehicle.
The driver of the other car, a man from Waihi, is in Tauranga hospital with moderate injuries.
