Desecration of graves admitted

12:25 pm on 13 November 2012

A man has admitted desecrating Jewish graves in the Symonds Street cemetery in Auckland.

The man, who has interim name suppression, pleaded guilty at a hearing at Auckland District Court on Friday.

He will be sentenced in February.

A co-accused, whose identity also cannot be revealed, has pleaded not guilty and his case has been adjourned until January.

Nathan Symington, 23, faced the same charge but the police now say there is insufficient evidence against him.

That charge is to be formally withdrawn in court.
