Primary and secondary school teachers say the Ministry of Education wants to settle their collective negotiations with settlements lasting three years.

The Educational Institute and the Post Primary Teachers Association are holding union meetings this week to discuss the ministry's offer with their members.

The details are secret, but teachers have told Radio New Zealand News they have been offered three year terms.

Primary teachers say the ministry is offering a pay rise of about 2% spread across the three years.
