Curran complains to Auditor-General about Hillside

10:04 pm on 26 November 2012

Labour's Dunedin South MP Clare Curran has written to Auditor-General Lyn Provost urging her to investigate the decision to have rail wagons built in China.

Ms Curran says the Auditor-General should look at the extent of political involvement and interference in the decision by KiwiRail's board to block proposals to have the wagons made at the Hillside Workshops in Dunedin.

She says the actions of the board potentially represent a breach of the social responsibility clause of the State-Owned Enterprises Act.

Ms Curran says this is a matter of significant importance and should be dealt with urgently.
