An appeal is likely whatever the outcome of a court case brought by the Maori Council in a bid to halt the partial sale of Mighty River Power.
The case was heard in the Wellington High Court this week and a decision is expected before Christmas.
Council lawyer Felix Geiringer told Morning Report he believes the council's case received a fair hearing but he expects the decision will be appealed, regardless of what the judge decides.
