A Rotorua woman has been charged with the murder of Michelle Hoffman-Tamm, who was missing for 16 days before her body was found.
Ms Hoffman-Tamm, 51, disappeared after she left her home in Rotorua on a bicycle to visit friends on 7 November. She never turned up.
More than a fortnight later her bicycle was discovered at a block of suburban shops some distance from her home.
The following day, police found Ms Hoffman Tamm's body in forest not far from State Highway 38 near Murupara in Bay of Plenty.
Police initially charged a 44-year-old woman with assault and she was remanded in custody.
But Detective Senior Sergeant Zane Smith said they withdrew that charge when the woman reappeared in court on Monday morning and she is now charged with murder.
The woman has name suppression.
