Doctorates for former All Black coach, top coroner

10:15 pm on 4 December 2012

Former All Black coach, Sir Graham Henry, will receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Canterbury next week.

The Chancellor, Dr John Wood, says Sir Graham is one of the College of Education's most distinguished graduates, and his contributions to education and sport through his coaching and mentoring make him worthy of an honorary doctorate.

Also receiving an honorary doctorate will be Judge Neil McLean, who was New Zealand's first Chief Coroner and instrumental in setting up the new coronial service.

Dr Wood says Judge McLean maintains a high profile and has made great efforts in reassuring the public following the Christchurch earthquakes.

The honorary doctorates will be presented at the University of Canterbury's Summer School graduation ceremony on 14 December.
