Security Association says industry regulation needed

9:07 am on 6 December 2012

The Security Association says it is time for regulation to be introduced in the security industry.

The Unite Union, which represents security workers, says new workers at First Security and other companies are often untrained and underpaid as companies compete with each-other for contracts.

Security Association executive officer Greg Watts says rules to govern how security staff are paid and trained need to be introduced.

He says workers who feel they're being paid unfairly also need to raise concerns with their employer or the Security Association.
