The Parole Board says the man acquitted of murdering Feilding farmer Scott Guy is to have his first parole hearing on Tuesday.
Ewen Macdonald was sentenced to five years prison in August for vandalising Mr Guy's home, poaching two trophy stags, killing 19 calves, carrying out two arsons and deliberately spilling 16,000 litres of milk from a vat.
Macdonald is eligible for parole as he has served a third of his sentence, much of it while he was on remand before and during the trial.
The Parole Board said that if he is denied parole on Tuesday, he will face another hearing next year.
