A man who died in January while hunting in the Rob Roy Valley, near Wanaka, had fallen to his death, according to a coroner.

The body of Matthew Laing, 24, was discovered by a helicopter search crew, two days after he was reported missing.

The coroner found Mr Laing slipped and fell at least 100m over an area of schist rock.

He suffered multiple traumatic injuries after probably climbing to get a view of a chamois.
