Casinos looking to hook video game addicts - claim

The Problem Gambling Foundation says the gambling industry is preparing to hook teenagers addicted to online video games, into playing casino games.

Research director Phil Townshend told Insight that the parents of those addicted to video games are increasingly asking for help.

He said the gaming industry is already grooming young players via social networking sites so they are ready when they are old enough to gamble.

Dr Townshend said the big worry is that with easier access via smartphones, tablets and laptops, addicted gamers and gamblers will have little chance of avoiding temptation.
