North Shore residents want council to buy slip properties

Three North Shore residents whose houses are under threat from further landslips want North Shore City Council to buy their properties.

Two houses in Mulberry Place are scheduled for demolition and three other homeowners are to put their case to a meeting of the council's strategy and finance committee on Tuesday.

Glenfield Community board member David Thornton says council records show the land has been unstable for 35 years.

He says residents still living in the houses after slips in July feel threatened by cracks in the bank behind them.

Mr Thornton says they do not have any confidence that the council is able to adequately repair the land and want the council to buy the properties.
