A strong earthquake has struck near the Kermadec Islands.
The Department of Conservation, which maintains a team there, says the quake was felt very strongly, but that none of its facilities was damaged.
The 6.8 magnitude tremor hit just before 11am on Thursday, 260km north-east of Raoul Island.
No Tsunami threat was detected.
