There was an armed robbery in a bar in New Plymouth just after 1am on Tuesday.
The incident happened just after 1am on Tuesday, at the Treehouse bar in the city.
Police said the Treehouse was shut and staff were about to leave after were cleaning-up when two people wearing dark clothes and helmets entered the bar.
Staff were forced to hand over a sum of cash before the offenders left on a motorbike.
The bar owner, who did not wish to be named, said his staff did everything right and showed great courage.
He said he was relieved that no-one was hurt.
