Police are looking for an arsonist who set fire to a pile of donated Christmas presents.
The Fire Service was called to a blaze at an old bus shelter in Waitati, north of Dunedin at 5.20am on Tuesday.
The shelter was completely engulfed in flames, along with a pile of donated gifts which residents had left for charity.
The Fire Service said the fire may be linked to a similar suspected arson in Port Chalmers.
