Constant vigilance required in Kabul

A New Zealand army officer working with the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan says the situation in Kabul requires constant vigilance despite 11 years of coalition intervention.

Colonel Paul Curry is one of seven New Zealanders working for ISAF, mainly by liaising with the Afghan government.

Colonel Curry said he and his colleagues remain extremely vigilant going about their business in the Afghan capital and security cannot be taken for granted.

However, he believes the security situation has improved in Kabul and says it is certainly better than it was under the Taliban.
