Big month for Kaibosh

10:53 am on 25 December 2012

A food rescue organisation in Wellington is having its biggest month ever, collecting about eight tonnes of excess food from producers and retailers.

Since 2008, Kaibosh Food Rescue has grown from one retailer and one charity, to collecting food from 16 retailers, factories and producers and giving it to 19 charities.

Kaibosh says it is making sure that surplus food goes to feeding people who need it.

Foodbank workers have told Kaibosh the nutritional value of the food parcels they distribute has increased markedly since the organisation began bringing fruit and vegetables to them.
