Bamyan operations as normal

The New Zealand Defence Force says operations in Bamyan in Afghanistan continue as normal, despite Tuesday being Christmas Day.
This is the 10th year that New Zealand has had a presence in the region, where five New Zealand soldiers were killed this year.
Lieutenant Colonel Sholto Stephens said Defence is balancing security needs with the desire to give its people the opportunity to celebrate Christmas and contact friends and family.
He said the contingent will also spend the day remembering the New Zealanders who have been killed there.
