Police in Invercargill say a man is dead and a rural highway is closed after a fatal car crash.
A Honda saloon was discovered in a paddock on the Lorneville-Dacre Highway, just north of Invercargill at about 6.30am on Wednesday.
Police say passers-by took the man from the car and performed CPR, but he died at the scene.
His name will be released later in the day.
The highway between Invercargill - Dacre is closed, but an alternative route is in place.
