Memorial Park work to close central Wellington street

The Transport Agency is alerting motorists to road closures which mark the first stage of building a new Memorial Park in Wellington.

The top of Tory Street in the central city will be blocked on Thursday. Motorists trying to get to Buckle or Tasman Streets will need to detour around the Basin Reserve.

NZTA says the closure will be in place for five weeks while a temporary road is built to divert traffic for two years while Memorial Park is under construction.

The temporary road will eventually be replaced by an underpass.
