Police are investigating what they say is a sexual assault on a young woman at her home in the Hutt Valley suburb of Wainuiomata in the early hours of Boxing Day.
The police say a man entered the woman's home between 4 o'clock and quarter past five this morning.
They say he sexually assaulted her before leaving the address near Wainuiomata Road.
The police say it's likely the man is a local who knows the area well.
They're asking for assistance from anyone who may have seen any suspicious movements in the area at the time of the assault.
