State Highway 2 near Upper Hutt has been reduced to one lane due to a landslide in the Rimutaka Ranges.
The slip is about 3.5 kilometre from the summit of Rimutaka Hill Road.
Police were first alerted to the landslide at 8.40am on Thursday. Contractors were being brought in to clear it.
