A commissioner has been appointed to run Fairfield College in Hamilton after the board of trustees resigned on Friday.
Dennis Finn has been working at the school as a specialist advisor.
The board resigned following over a number of issues, including disputes between some staff and the principal and senior management team.
Secretary of Education Karen Sewell announced the appointment on Monday.
She said Mr Finn will continue working with the school to improve the quality of governance, teaching and student achievement.
Ms Sewell said Mr Finn was appointed because of his considerable experience.
He has previously been Commissioner at a number of schools, including Cambridge High, Tokoroa High and Tauhara College in Taupo.
Mr Finn says the school will be able to work through the issues and he has confidence in the principal and all the staff.
