Police have called off their search for a tramper missing in Kahurangi National Park in the north western South Island.
Alistair Levy, 54, sent a text message saying he had reached the summit of Mount Owen on 23 December, but nothing has been heard from him since.
Police say a long delayed aerial search on Monday failed to show any sign of the Palmerston North man.
The search was focused on the Castle Basin and Bluff areas near Mt Owen.
Police say there are no further plans to send teams into the area and any further search will depend on new information becoming available.
