Holiday road toll six

The official holiday period ended at 6am on Thursday, with six deaths on the roads.

The toll was raised by one on Wednesday afternoon, when a woman injured in Northland, died in hospital.

During the Christmas and New Year period last year 19 people were killed, 65 seriously injured and 335 received minor injuries.

The lowest road toll recorded previously was eight in 1959/60.
