Sea Shepherd set for Antarctica

9:47 pm on 4 January 2013

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's vessel Bob Barker will set sail for Antarctica on Saturday morning.

The anti-whaling ship has been berthed in Wellington for a month.

Its captain Peter Hammarstedt says the four-strong Sea Shepherd fleet will make its way to the Southern Ocean to try to stop the Japanese Whaling fleet.

He says the crew is making final preparations before the trip, which could see them at sea until March.
