Sir Paul Holmes will have his knighthood ceremony brought forward because of his failing health. The investiture will be held next week at his home in Hawke's Bay.

The Waikato Times says British police are offering a reward in their hunt for Brandon Victor Pillay, who escaped from a Waikato prison 11 years ago. Pillay is believed to be linked to a murder in south London.
Firefighters in Taupo have been battling to control a scrub fire. Parts of Waikato reached critical fire conditions on Monday.
