Adult quad bikes not for children

A children's welfare organisation urges parents to keep under youngsters away from adult quad bikes.

Safekids New Zealand said on average, two children are killed and nearly 30 others are hospitalised each year due to quad bike-related injuries.

In more than half of those cases, children were found to be driving adult bikes.

Safekids director Ann Weaver said children do not have the body size, weight, perception and co-ordination skills to ride the machines.
