A motorcyclist has died after a crash with a van in Northland.
Aaron Rudkin, 20, of Ruawai, was travelling on Jellicoe Road in Ruawai when he tried to overtake a van as it was turning into a service station at 6pm on Tuesday. He died at the scene.
Police said Mr Rudkin was not wearing a helmet and speed was a factor in the crash.
