Two men have been arrested over a near-fatal assault outside a bar in central Auckland on 30 December.
A Papatoetoe man was on life support in hospital for over a week after the attack. Police say he is now making a slow recovery.
A man, 27, from Massey is charged with intent to injure, causing grevious bodily harm.
He appeared in Auckland District Court on Thursday and was remanded on bail until 31 January.
A security worker, 28, is due in court on Friday, charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
