More security promised after bottle-throwing at cricket

New Zealand Cricket will increase security for the upcoming one day international matches against India, following a bottle-throwing incident at the Twenty20 international in Wellington on Friday.

Play was halted briefly towards the end of the New Zealand innings when a plastic bottle was thrown from the crowd on to the ground close to an Indian fielder.

Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dohni said having bottles thrown is a distraction to players and security staff need to put in more effort.

He said he does not want to see the same thing happen during the upcoming one day series.

The Black Caps went on to a thrilling five-wicket with Brendon McCullum hitting a single off the last ball, to take the series 2-0.

The first one day international is at Napier on Tuesday, followed by games at Wellington on Friday and Christchurch on Sunday.

The squad is Daniel Vettori (captain), Neil Broom, Ian Butler, Grant Elliott, Martin Guptill, Brendon McCullum, Kyle Mills, Iain O'Brien, Jacob Oram, Jesse Ryder, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor.
