Two women, aged 32 and 22, and a 28-year-old man appeared in the Masterton District Court on Monday charged with aggravated burglary in connection with Mr Jones's death.

Judge Mary O'Dwyer granted all three interim name suppression and remanded them in custody until their next court appearance on Friday. They entered no plea to the charge.

At a news conference on Monday afternoon, police appealed for sightings of two other men in connection with the attack.

Detective Inspector Sean Hansen says there are warrants out for Kristofer Jones, 23, and Hayden Ranson, 27.

Mr Hanson says the men have fled the greater Wellington area and are believed to be in the central or upper North Island. They are driving a blue 1989 Mitsubishi Mirage with the registration OE7854.

Members of the public are advised not to approach the pair and should contact police immediately if they see them. Mr Hansen warned anyone that harbouring them is committing a crime.

Further charges are likely against those charged and wanted in relation to Mr Jones's death, he says.

Mr Hansen says officers spoke to three more people overnight on Sunday. Police say several people were involved in the attack and one was seen carrying a baseball bat.

Police are also appealing for any sightings of a white Holden Commodore, registration GHE787. They say the car is believed to have been in Masterton and Carterton on Friday night, then in Featherston about the time of the attack.

Police believe the car then visited various locations in the Hutt Valley and Wellington city areas before returning to Masterton early on Saturday.
