A Hamilton woman has been charged with assault after allegedly driving over her partner repeatedly during a domestic dispute at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to a house in the Hamilton suburb of Fairfield at midday on Sunday after reports that the couple were arguing.

They say neighbours had pulled the woman from her car after she attempted to drive over her partner for a fifth time.

When breath-tested, the woman was found to have a breath-alcohol reading of 980 milligrams. The legal limit is 400 milligrams.

The woman fled the scene, but was later arrested and charged with drink-driving, assault and careless driving.

The man was treated for minor injuries.
