Police believe robberies may be linked

Christchurch police believe two potentially violent robberies in the city are connected.

A man brandishing a hammer robbed a dairy in Halswell on Sunday, while earlier this week a Riccarton dairy was robbed by a man threatening the owner with a cricket bat.

In both instances, a man in his late teens or early 20s, of slim build and with short peroxide-blonde hair, has run off with a sum of money.

Police have released video footage of the man and are asking members of the public who may have any information about his identity to come forward.
